Training in Advanced Analytical Hypnotherapy: Gil Boyne's Transforming Therapy™
John Butler, PhD - London, England
Doing it Your Way: Effective Therapeutic Strategies and Choices. Transforming Therapy was developed by Gil Boyne from his extensive work and study over many decades. Its effectiveness derives from its integration of multiple methods of well-established therapeutic power, including trance, subconscious programming, inner dialogue, therapeutic rapport, integration of rational and emotional understandings, generating readiness for change, adaptation to new life choices, etc. As practised by Gil, Transforming Therapy is a flexible and sophisticated therapy system which enables and requires the therapist to individualise with each client, emphasising those elements which are most needed for psychological healing or physical health benefits.
Any therapy session involves many points of choice for the therapist, and the usual questions from students watching a demonstration are: Why did you do that? What factors in the client and the session led you to select that particular option at that time? How did you know this would/could be effective? If you have ever asked these questions yourself, then this seminar is for you. Teaching will include lectures, demonstrations, supervised role-play and exploring case histories from Gil Boyne’s film archives. (NB Students are expected to be familiar with the basic techniques of Transforming Therapy.)
John Butler has practiced clinical hypnotherapy for over 30 years. He trained in several styles of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy. He has taught medical psychology, medical neuroanatomy and other subjects in medical schools in the United Kingdom. He has undertaken over 3,500 hours of training with Gil Boyne and assisted him in teaching Transforming Therapy classes for many years.

Transformation Through Regression Hypnotherapy
Randal Churchill, Dir. Hypnotherapy Training Institute
Hypnotic age regression often provides an opportunity for powerful therapy. Some therapists limit the possibilities for healing by a standard procedure of emotionally detaching the client during regression. However, openness to the subconscious emotions, when appropriate, can frequently offer greater potential for more profound transformation. Processes such as the affect bridge and Gestalt can facilitate access to the emotions during the process of more comprehensive work.
This workshop includes live demonstrations and an overview of many of the forms and functions of regression, including Churchill’s 15 Steps in Emotional Clearing Regression. Various uses of ideomotor methods within the regression context will be described, including as a means of determining the appropriateness of revivifying a traumatic experience. The subject of recovered memories will be addressed, including issues of relevance, responsibilities of the therapist, and how to avoid influencing memories.
Randal Churchill is President of the ACHE. He is founder and Director of the Hypnotherapy Training Institute, one of the first state-licensed hypnotherapy schools (1978), which draws many students from around the world each semester. He is author of the award-winning texts, Regression Hypnotherapy and Become the Dream, and the acclaimed Catharsis in Regression Hypnotherapy.

History
In 1980, Gil Boyne founded the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, a non-profit professional
organization engaging in self-regulation of all who use hypnotherapy as an integral part of a
professional practice.
Membership
Since its inception in 1980, the A.C.H.E. has become an international organization. We have
certified more than 13,000 Hypnotherapists and at present have more than 9,000 current, active
certified members. Approximately one-third of these are physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists,
and representatives of the healing arts professions.
Purpose
The primary focus of the A.C.H.E. is on formal and appropriate specialized education and training
followed by a comprehensive written examination and practical demonstration of hypnosis skills
before a Board of Examiners. A code of ethics and principles of practice were formulated and
adopted by more than eight hundred new members in the first year of operation (1980).
Examination and Registration
Examination and registration are done by Regional Examining Boards, while certification is by the
national parent body-the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners. The Regional Councils are the
result of the demand for full participation by the experienced and influential practitioners in
other states. There are Regional Examining Councils covering most of the United States and Canada
and affiliates in the United Kingdom and Australia.
